RFT Shows Award Winning Films!
Many of this season’s films are Golden Globe winners and BAFTA and Oscar nominations:
Tom Hooper’s film of the stage hit, Les Miserables (Thursday March 14th at 7pm), was the only British film to win a Golden Globe award in the best film musical or comedy category. The film won three awards in total, with actress Anne Hathaway winning best supporting actress for her portrayal of Fantine. The film's lead, Hugh Jackman, won best actor in a musical or comedy. Both actors have been nominated for Oscars and the film has been nominated for BAFTA and Oscar awards.
Don’t miss Amour (Tuesday February 26th at 7.30pm), directed by Austria's Michael Haneke, which won the Golden Globe’s best foreign film. The film has also been nominated for a BAFTA for the director and an Oscar for Best Picture and Emmanuelle Riva has been nominated for Best Actress.
Silver Linings Playbook (Thursday March 21st at 7pm) star Bradley Cooper was also nominated in the Best Actor category at the Oscars. The Best Actress in a musical or comedy category was won by Cooper's co-star, Jennifer Lawrence.
The nine year old star of Beasts of the Southern Wild (Thursday 14th February at 8pm) has been nominated for Best Actress and the film has been nominated in the Best Picture category.
