RFT's new season will start on April 23rd with the screening of Lincoln. Our programme for next term includes Argo, Django Unchained and Hyde Park on Hudson as well as the Japanese film I Wish and the new Almodovar film, I'm So Excited! We will also be featuring a Hitchcock season: the return of some old favourites and culminating with the new Sacha Gervasi film on the life of Hitchcock.

Sunday's Oscar winners included some of the films featured in this term's RFT programme.

Anne Hathaway won Best Supporting Actress for her role in Les Miserables (Thursday 14th March at 7pm). The film also won awards for Best Makeup and Hairstyling and Sound Mixing.

Jennifer Lawrence won the Oscar for Best Actress for her role in Silver Linings Playbook (Thursday 21st March at 7pm).

Amour (shown on Tuesday 26th February) won an Oscar for Best Foreign Language film.

The Imposter (Thursday January 24th) won the Outstanding Debut film by a British writer or producer (Bart Layton, Dimitri Doganis).

Amour (Tuesday February 26th at 7.30pm) won the Film Not in the English Language award. Emmanuelle Riva also won the Leading Actress award for her portrayal of the stroke victim, Anne, in this film. At 85 she is the oldest actor to win a Bafta.

Many of this season’s films are Golden Globe winners and BAFTA and Oscar nominations:

Tom Hooper’s film of the stage hit, Les Miserables (Thursday March 14th at 7pm),  was the only British film to win a Golden Globe award in the best film musical or comedy category. The film won three awards in total, with actress Anne Hathaway winning best supporting actress for her portrayal of Fantine. The film's lead, Hugh Jackman, won best actor in a musical or comedy. …
