Reading Film Theatre was established over 40 years ago as an independent cinema with a policy to show the best films from around the world. RFT receives no grants and hires the largest auditorium from the University on a regular basis, using its own equipment and employing RFT staff, most of whom are volunteers.
Our autumn season has started well with a selection of thought-provoking and heart-warming films to suit a variety of interests. Our new loyalty card scheme has been very successful with our members and some of our keen regular attenders have already been eligible to claim their free film.
Last week saw the start of the India on Film Tour with the beautifully filmed Hotel Salvation. Later we will be showing Silent Waters and Victoria and Abdul as part of this season.
The first film of the Monster Film Festival season is on Wednesday in the Minghella Building. Tickets for these films will be sold on the door from 6.30pm onwards..
October is also Black History Month and we will be showing Daughters of the Dust and Detroit to mark this.
And finally…. Don’t forget to look out for our short films which are featured before some of the main films as part of the Arts Council and Channel 4’s Random Acts.
