Celebrating World Fair Trade Day
The heroes of this heart-warming documentary are the inhabitants of the small Greek farming village of Elias who tackle the world market by exporting their home-grown tomato products. Led by two ingenious cousins, five village grannies struggle to survive and make their dream come true by cultivating the tomato seeds which they have kept for hundreds of years. This quirky (the tomatoes are blasted with Wagner to encourage them to ripen) and inspirational film premiered at the Berlinale Culinary Cinema section.
