Shola Amoo directs this semi auto-biographical film about one boy, Femi’s, journey from a happy, mistily recalled childhood through his troubled growth to a dislocated manhood, having been removed by his birth mother from his doting foster mother to join her in her London home. The transience of his life is captured in the stark contrast between quiet, rural, halcyon Lincolnshire and the unfamiliar, dismal 20th floor flat, where he now lives. The unfamiliar surroundings and staggering cultural differences provide enormous challenges for Femi in this delicate period piece.
