This poignant film offers a rare glimpse into Brooklyn’s ultra-Orthodox Hasidic Jewish community. In accordance with tradition, Menashe, a kind but hapless grocery store clerk, is faced with the choice of remarrying immediately or giving up custody of his 10 year old son, Rieven, following the death of his wife. This film is performed in Yiddish by a cast of first time actors and has won several awards.
