The Old Man and the Gun

Tuesday 5th March 2019 - 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm, Palmer Building

The RFT members have chosen The Old Man and the Gun as their Members’ Choice film for this season.

It’s Dallas, Texas in the early 1980s and police are baffled by a series of heists by a trio of venerable bank robbers who soon become known as the “Over-the-Hill Gang.” Their leader is the mythic figure of Forrest Tucker (Robert Redford at his craggy, twinkly, charismatic best), a gentleman thief who is so unfailingly courteous to bank staff that they scarcely notice he’s robbing them blind.
If, as reported, The Old Man and the Gun is Robert Redford’s last film then this is the Sundance Kid bowing out in style.

USA 2018 – Directed by David Lowery with Robert Redford, Casey Affleck, Sissy Spacek – 93 min.

Warm and funny and mesmerizing in its understated perfection – The Observer.
A love letter to a cinematic legend, serving as a perfect final film for someone who long ago surpassed mere actor status to become an icon –
