Shia Labeouf has written a fictionalised autobiography in which he plays his own father. A rising child actor, ‘Otis’ bears the frustrated rage of a parent who cruelly envies the early success that pays for both of their lives. Otis goes through his own crisis of inflated fame and bad behaviour, but the reflective and cathartic story he creates in rehab emerges as a bravely insightful drama.
