Alice (Ruth Wilson) is an agricultural nomad, earning a living as a skilled and respected farm worker as she drifts between Canada, Australia and the UK. When she learns of the death of her father, Alice is forced to confront the traumas of her past as she returns to the family farm, and the brother (Mark Stanley) she has not seen for fifteen years. Set amidst the gothic beauty of her native Yorkshire, writer/director Clio Barnard’s film is a raw and unforgiving portrayal of a fractured sibling relationship.
