In a small Romani community in Calabria 14 year old Pio Amato is desperate to be a man. Modelling himself on his father and his older brother and befriended by a local immigrant from Burkina Faso, he drinks, smokes and is involved in petty crime. This frank coming of age drama is played by non-professional actors and premiered in the Director’s Fortnight at Cannes.
